Canadian artist David Myles is probably best known for the song “Inner Ninja,” his collaboration with Canadian rapper, Classified. Well, best known probably in Canada. The song went triple platinum, won Myles a Juno Award (Canadian equivalent of the Grammys) and is the biggest selling rap single in Canadian history.
In addition to his Juno award, Myles has been nominated and received dozens of other awards for his songwriting talents. He’s an entreprenuer as well, self-publishing all of his music (and his book – see below).
In 2014, he released a Christmas record titled, It’s Christmas (proceeds from the sales went to help fund food banks throughout Canada).
I’ll feature two songs from it tonight, Santa Never Brings Me a Banjo and It Snowed.
Santa Never Brings Me a Banjo tells the story of a boy who wants a banjo for Christmas — but never seems to get his wish. It’s a cartoon animated video that was so popular Myles wrote a children’s book telling the story.
