How To Subscribe and Actually See These Posts (And All That I Want from The Weepies – Eventually)

November 29, 2019
There are two ways to access this blog
1. Subscribe via email (it’s in the top left hand corner under the heading “Email Subscription.)” I guess that’s now the old school way as it’ll be delivered to your inbox every day (or night).
2. I post the blog to Facebook every night– go here and click on Like https://www.facebook.com/tomschristmasmusicblog/
  • Simply liking the page does not assure you’ll see it in your feed. If you want to make sure you see this Christmas Cheer every day, you need to tell Facebook to make it so by doing the following:

FROM A DESKTOP

  1. In the top right hand corner of your facebook page there is a little “down arrow.” Click on that.
  2. Scroll down to News Feed Preferences
  3. Click on “Prioritize Who To See First”
  4. That will open a box with everyone you’re following. If you want to make sure you see my posts, simply scroll through your list and click on Tom’s Christmas Music Blog (you can sort by pages — thet’s where this blog will show up)
  5. Click on “Done” to save.
  6. Be amazed at all of the people and pages you’ve absolutely forgotten you followed because you never see them in your feed (I know, amazing.)

FROM A PHONE OR DEVICE

  1. Tap the three horizontal lines either in the top right-hand corner (on most phones) or the bottom left-hand corner (iPad or similar devices)
  2. Tap “Settings & Privacy”
  3. Tap “Settings”
  4. Tap “News Feed Preferences”
  5. Tap “Prioritize Who To See First”
  6. Then scroll down your list until you find “Tom’s Christmas Music Blog”  and tap it.
  7. Then just back out.

Then at around 8 o’clock every night, you should see my posts at the top of your feed.
One more thing, I do have a Spotify Playlist — It includes most of the songs I have featured through the years. Some are simply not available on Spotify. However, it’s a tremendous Christmas Playlist and you can subscribe to it here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1apc790agrFriXHtW2uscT

Enough of the bookkeeping stuff…

Here are The Weepies with All That I Want, a song I first posted back in December, 2012. It holds up well.

From December 2, 2012 – The Weepies – All That I Want

November 25, 2018

This is my post from December 2, 2012 featuring The Weepies

The Weepies are a singer-songwriter duo featuring Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. They were both singing independently when they discovered each other’s music – and eventually each other. They’ve put out four records since their first in 2003 — and i can pretty much say I don’t think they’ve ever written a bad song.

According to Tannen, the name for the band “…came about from a few different sources, but one was, you know, those sort of old movies that were called weepies, where you could basically be guaranteed that if you needed a good cry, you could go and see one of these and bring your hanky and have a good time. And we want to be able to provide that for people. We want to make music that touches them and moves them in that way, the place where tears come from, for joy and for sorrow.”

All That I Want” is from their first cd, “Happiness (The Weepies album).” The song was featured in a JC Penney ad in 2007 and an episode of  Gossip Girl.

I first heard the song as part of their label’s Christmas Compilation CD, “A Winter’s Night: The Best of Nettwerk Christmas Albums.” (I’ll probably feature another song or two from that this month.)

“All That I Want” is a very pretty tune I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Check out their website — shake the snowglobe http://www.theweepies.com/

The Weepies – All That I Want

Out in the harbor
The ships come in, it’s Christmastime
The kids all holler carols ‘cross the water
Stars that shine

All that I want, all that I want

Above the rooftops
The full moon dips it’s golden spoon
I wait on clip-clops, deer might fly
Why not? I met you

All that I want, all that I want

And when the night is falling
Down the sky at midnight
Another year is stalling
Far away a good bye, good night
All that I want, all that I want, all that I want

So small a turning
The world grows older every day
An ache, a yearning
Soften when I hear you say

All that I want, all that I want

And when the cold wind’s blowing
Snow drifts through the pine trees
In houses lights are glowing
Likewise in your eyes that find me here

With all that I want.

Out in the harbor
The ships come in, it’s Christmastime
It’s Christmastime
It’s Christmastime.
