12/11/23 A Song About It’s a Wonderful Life and One About Scrooge

It’s hard to describe the music of Cedar Sparks. On their instagram page they categorize their genre as 𝑭𝒐𝒍𝒌-𝑵𝒐𝒊𝒓 | 𝑮𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒂. One reviewer calls it “Dark Americana.”

Whatever they call it, in 2018 Cedar Sparks wrote, recorded and released a tune called Gathering Song, a tune “inspired by the classic 1946 film It’s A Wonderful Life and the plight of protagonist George Bailey.”

Gathering Song is not the happiest of all songs – but It’s a Wonderful Life isn’t the happiest of movies (until the end). Here are the lyrics:

LATE ADDITION: I’m featuring Dr. Dog later this month (15th) and since we’re on a movie song theme, their song, Ebenezer Scrooge is a great and tells the story of a Christmas Carol six minutes and three seconds. Brilliant.
