All Will Be Well – Fortunate Ones

Each year as I search for songs/artists to feature in this blog, I always seem to find a few that floor me, like Coming Home from Meghan Ali, Joseph Who Understood by The New Pornographers and I Want An Alien For Christmas by Fountains of Wayne, all from 2015. I tend to like all of the songs I discover – some stand out a bit more. Tonight’s featured band really shines and is one of my favorites this year.

Fortunate Ones is a 2016 Juno nominated and Canadian Folk Music Award winning folk-pop duo made up of  singer/pianist/accordion player Catherine Allan and singer/guitarist Andrew James O’Brien.

Their music is simple, catchy and sweet. From their website, “they consider themselves fortunate to pursue their dreams. Their name reflects shared experience with audiences. It is about connecting people of all kinds, to make strangers friends, to elicit feelings of joy, hope, sadness, and contemplation – and the spirit that we are all in this together.”

All Will Be Well is the name of the Christmas EP they released last month – it features six songs, two are original tunes. I’ll feature the originals tonight. If you like them, head over to their youtube page to listen to the rest of their music, they’re wonderfully talented singer/songwriters. Or better yet, click on the links below and buy their records. You won’t be disappointed.
